Need Short Plugs
Got a couple of plug wires too close to my headers.
Anybody know the Accel Shorty Plug Number that is equivalent to a R45TS ?

No part stores here that would even know what an Accel Shorty plug is.
They would think it's a water jacket plug or something.
Headers? What's that? A title at the top of the page.?
These guys are so lame they crawl to work at the part stores around here.

Go with the Accel U Groove header plugs. Much more clearance and they work excellent. You can get them at Advance or Jegs or Summit.

Definitely the U-groove shorty header plugs. I'm using the 574's (the 8-pack number is #8198), which are the colder plugs equivalent to the Delco 43TS or 44TS. I think the next warmer plug is a 576 (8 pack is #8199), which will probably match up with the 45TS Delco plug.
The 8199 pack is available in all the O'Reilly stores around Dallas, but you can always order them from Jegs or Summit, too.
Just pick your heat range to see which one of the 2 you want/need.

What is the difference between the 574/576 and the 276? I have a set of 276s now and have to replace them. I'm using dart Iron Eagle heads (straight plug) along with SLP 1-5/8 headers. The heads require '.460” reach, tapered seat, Champion V59C / V59YC.' The clearance is so bad I burn a plug wires constantly, even with the shorty plugs the boots are almost touching. I'm actually going to consider cutting out the bend that is touching and welding in another, larger bend!!

I just went through the whole accell shorty plug idea and to make a long story short. Get the Autolites or the NGK plugs. They are the same length as my shorty plugs and much much cheaper. The accell plugs fail quickly. On my 406 I had so many problems getting the car to run and turned out that a mechanic of 30 years checked my plugs with a multimeter. One end to the tip of the plug and the other to an engine ground. There was continuity between the tip and the ground strap causing the current to ground out to the block. So I tried cleaning these still clean plugs and still the same thing. I ended up getting Autolites and now my car runs right. This is personal experience and not some rumor. The guy at O'reilly's warned me about the plugs before I bought them but I didn't trust him. He looked only about 16 or 17 years old. I have worked on cars nearly that long. Anyway, Please don't get the accell's. You'll be sorry.

I brought this post back from the dead instead of starting a new one. You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the autolite or NGK plugs? Something tells me that I'm going to have a hard time finding plugs this short unless I know the number. Thanks.

I'm using the NGK UR5 (plug #2771) in my 383 with iron Sportsman II heads now, gapped at .050" with my MSD Dig 6+ and MSD coil. That the equivalent of the Delco R43T plug, which is one step colder than stock.
My Accel's loosened up the tips and started missing out as well......

FYI the difference between the 200 series and the 500 is that the 500's are resistor plugs, thus more expensive.
I'll have to keep an eye out of some different shorty plugs based on what everyone else is saying about them.

Bosch single prong platinums are also as short as the Accels and last a LOT longer. I'm into the fourth year on mine and it runs like a top, pulls down 19.5 mpg in the city and starts at -25* Celsius
