Does anyone know sites where I can look at a list of all the belt lenghts different companys make?

Having problems finding 6rib at 88.5-89.0 length. I finally found first one today (after 3weeks), and its 40 buks Plus these local parts people dont understand "custom length"/"non-stock application".

The companies web site generally lists all the lengths i think. Is what i do is i go to the companies web site, get a P/N, go to the stores web site, get a corresponding P/N. Then i go to the store itself and ask for that part number. If they ask whats the application, i just say: "its the application that needs that <insert part here>".

Belts are about the easiest thing in the world to buy in "custom" lengths.

The stock belt for your car is something like a 945K6. That's 94.5" long, ribbed serpentine, 6 ribs. The belt you want is something like a 895K6 or 900K6. They're pretty much all the same part #s from every mfr.

Just go to the parts store and look along the back wall where they hang them.

I dont know how it is for you, RB. But for me and all my parts stores (Autozone, Napa, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, Auto Barn, and a few others) the belts are behind the counter and i have to ask for them.

my solution is to walk back there anyway.

then again, they know me by know... im "that guy that walks in, looks up the part on our computer and then goes back here."

the only time someone said anything to me was the manager asking if i needed help... and i said "nope. i know where everything is", and kept going

advance usually has them on the wall next to the batterys heading back towards behind the counter. just walk over there. worse thing they'll do is ask you to stay on that side of the counter.

Same here; but if you tell them what you're looking for and make it sound like you'll know exactly what it is when you see it, about 90% of the time they'll let you go back and look for it yourself. Belts, hoses, exhaust pipes, stuff like that, if I need something but don't have an application, I just tell them I'm looking for a hose bent just so with particular sizes on the ends, or whatever; then their eyes glaze over, and they tell me to go find it myself. Then all they have to do is take my money. They like it better that way it seems.

You can get them at Advance Auto Parts. the 6-rib 88.5" belt runs 34.99 in the Dayco Poly Cog. The numbering scheme for Dayco serpentine belts is as follows:

Poly-Cog Brand (expensive, cross-hatched ribs)
5060885

The italicized number designates the number of ribs in the belt. The bolded number is the length of the belt (0885 is 88.5", 1020 would be 102", 1055 would be 105.5", etc). So, a 5050450 would be a 5-rib 45" long belt..

Drive-rite Brand (standard serpentine belt)
750K6

The bolded number in the length here (750 being 75.0"), and the italicized number is the number of ribs on the belt.

Similarly, in the V-belt world, there is a similar numbering scheme:

Top Cog (perpendicular ribs on top of belt)
15730

The italicized number here represents how wide the V-belt is (3 is skinny, 5 is medium, 7 is thick; sorry, can't remember the width specifications in inches). The bolded number still represents the length of the belt (730 is 73.0", 435 is 43.5").

Drive Rite (standard el-cheapo)
45515

The bolded number for the Drive-rite belts represent the length (455 is 45.5", see a theme yet?). The italicized number is the width of the V-belt (same as the Top Cog)

Hope this helps.. Not sure of the particulars of the other brands numbering scheme..

Just FYI...

In the ones you list for the Top Cog style, Dayco #s, the "15" or "13" or whatever is the width across the top in 32nds. In Gates or the other mfrs that use numbers that start with single-digits, the "7" or whatever is the width in 16ths, measured some slightly different way that produces a different number but the same size belt. Most of the time, a "7" is equivalent to "13"; "15 to "8"; etc.

Hope that helps you someday.
