Car: '88 camaro
Engine: TBI 350
Transmission: 5 spd
code 44, fouled plugs, blowing black smoke
just wondering what might be possible causes of this. if new spark plugs are put in it will run fine for a bit until those get fouled up with a black soot (cant really say its oil), and the engine will eventually die unless you keep the revs up. when reving it up it will blow a black smoke.

Even though your getting a lean signal to the ecm your plugs are telling you rich. Most likely cause is a misfire from the ignition. Could also be a bad o2. How log has the code been on?

Transmission: 700R4 in both
Engine type would help steer you in the right direction. In any case, check fuel pressure. If MAP system, check for vacuum hoses disconnected.
