ZZ4 Rings.
I got some bad news yesterday. The ZZ4 pistons use metric rings?!?!?!
I have a set of the ZZ4 pistons that are for a .030 overbore, and I was wanting Childs & Albert zero-gap rings, but they aren't available for the overbore.
Anyone know of a good solution for my problem?
TIA

I guess finding a slinky the right size is out?
200 raw piston rings to a stack and we pay good money for them as kids toys.
EDIT: I need to learn how to spell

not sure it'd be cost effective but it wouldn't be a big deal to put the piston in a lathe and recut the ring grooves to a larger american size.

That wouldn't be a big deal Ed, and I even thought of it, but I already have the rods on them, and that would be a PITA to pull them off, then reinstalled. I know several tool shops, besides the ability to do it myself at work, so that's not the issue.
Funny thing is, they sell the std. sized ones, but not the .030 overbore ones. Maybe I should've stayed with the stock bore? Oh well, I'll get something figured out! I was just hoping that I wasn't the Guinea Pig here, but it looks as though I am!

I put some thought in to the slinky idea, but I don't think the plastic they're made of now woulod hold up to the heat.
I'm gonna do some looking into the Total Seal rings now.
Thanks fo rthe help so far!

Well, I would look at the pro's and con's of useing "Gapless" rings on the street. Something about not reliving the pressure between the rings ect, ect.

this thread is 3 years old, I just wanted to add the link incase anyone else gets curious.
and gapless rings are awsome for street motors, the pressure between the rings thing is something I have been campaigning about here on TGO for a few years. Its a problem on power adders, but otherwise on any N/A car they are awsome. If a regular gap second ring is used with a wide gap then you are ok with power adder.
I believe in plain cast rings for power adders
