Limp home mode: Alternator issues
When the car has no chip/Eprom (and so is running in Limp Home Mode) in it will the Alternator charge the battery and give the car its power? Please say no.
We took the car out in LHM as we needed fuel fast, and didnt realise we had not charge untill it was too late then had to stand about in the rain and nurse the baby home with about 3 jump starts.
Thanks for any advice.

Should a powermaster 140amp alt. Die within a year then?
it was only fitted this time last year.
The only thing we can think of is that the battery is pretty bad at holding a charge. Coulc this overwork the alt?

Transmission: 700r4 (for now)
Ive bought bad new alternators a couple of times..... if the alt was good it would at least charge the battery a little. once started it should run just on altenator alone.
Can you have them tested there?
Through in a batt that you know is good and see what happens
