new GM 217 heads and springs. Will springs hold up to LT1 cam? ede/Vader help
I have spent a lot of time today in the Archives but couldn't quite clarify weather the stock springs on a set of new GM 217 heads used on the old "285 hp "crate"motor will be Ok with an 1996 LT1 cam 201/208 dur
.447/.459 lift. I hope to get a long block 350 with the above heads and don't want to have to take it apart when I get it. ede and vader I saw you guys talk about various aspects of springs on the 100 or so posts I read but I wasn't smart enough to figure out weather I will have a reliable and dependable engine or problems/lack of performance. All responses appreciated and suggestions for further research.........bob

3"cat back, 3.42 torsen posi,alston SFC's,Global West LCA relocation brackets, edelbrock STB

Most stock heads should be able to handle .460" lift with no problems. Just use 1.5 rockers, not 1.6.

I'm running a 96 LT1 cam with 1.6 roller tips in my L98,so just to be safe I put in a set of zz3 springs to handle the extra lift.Part #10134358,around $33 at www.competitionproducts.com but probably cheaper at www.gmpartsdirect.com
