Vader, GMTech, anyone else on EGR valve
Ok guys here's the deal. I know that on our engines the EGR valves all have some different kind of letter designation. Usually at the shops I've worked at they just get the letter off of the old one when they replace it. Unfortunately on the 383 I'm building now, there was no intake on the block when I got it. How do I know what EGR valve I'm going to need? It's going into an 89 IROC-Z with TPI.

Well I don't know if I can help but my EGR went out on my T/A I went to AutoZone to get a new one and there was 3 differnt ones. I had not removed anything because I wanted the parts before I tore my engine apart. They only had one in stock so I took it in hopes that it was the right one. It wasn't. So I got to thinking. I have to find the OEM number on my EGR before I can get the right one. I went to napaonline.com and they had 2 EGR Valves for my car. One was for a M/T and the other for an A/T. It even listed the OEM number there so I knew what the number was. The price at napaonline was $68.00 and I went back to the AutoZone and gave them the OEM number and got the right part and it was $50.00. It was also a GM part. Maybe this will give you a start.

Paul I went to napaonline and they only have 1 EGR Valve for an 89 Iroc.Lucky you. The OEM is number is 17085813 and it's $74.99 part# CRB23144. I also went to AutoZone.com and they list only one for your car also and it's the same OEM number and their price is $49.99 part# EGR197 it's made by Wells. Good Luck!
