Do these TPS readings make sense?

Checked my TPS readings yesterday (see sig for car details), these are the best readings I could get. When I adjusted the closed throttle to .5V the best WOT reading I could get was about 3.6-3.8V. If I raised the closed throttle to .88 I could get 4.45V at WOT. This is where I left it. I also have a new sensor I tried just to see if there would be a difference, there was none between the new sensor and current sensor on the readings. At the highest adjustment I couldn't get more than about 4.5. Are these ok? Can the tab off the throttle body be adjsuted at all to get what I need or am I ok?

At WOT you don't want it to read anything highter than 4.5-4.7VDC max. If the computer sees it at 5volts it will set a code because the only time the senor should read 5 volts is when it is shorted to ground, and that means the sensor is bad. A good closed throttle setting is .45VDC

You probably ment it is shorted to ECM reference voltage that is 5VDC. If it was shorted to ground it would be 0VDC.

Anyway, readings seem to be OK.

sorry, my mistake...good eye formula350_87. he is right. it would be shorted to ref. voltage if it was 5 volts, ground if it read 0v.

TPS adjustment

omcrider,
I will have a GRAND OPENING soon at my shop. There will be few 3rd Gens showing up. If you don't mind driving over to Sacramento to meet other 3rd Gen, I will help you adjust the TPS to have the best throttle response. No charge of course, gotta make it worth your drive.

What I really need is it diagnosed either by data logging and/or hook it up to a machine that can check and read my codes and sensors. I have never had my SES light come on (except when I start the car it flashes so I know the light is good) in the three years I have owned it. I am curious if I am just staying ahead of problems or if my SES light is not functioning. I would be interested in checking out your opening though. When is it and what is going on. I have a friend in Sac I need to visit anyway.

omcrider,
Sorry I wasn't clear on my previous post. I just opened a new smog testing and general auto repair facility 3 weeks ago. And yes, I have the Snap-on scanner that we can use on your car. I'll post the date for the grand opening on the "West Coast" page. It should be within this month for sure.
