broken valve spring dampers on S/R torquers
I am running a ZZ4 cam with 1.5 rockers on 305 torquer heads. They are rated for .560 lift. My lift is .474 /.510. The spring dampers are broke and I am wondering if I can just remove them and run with out them. They probably aren't doing much good now anyway. Does anyone know what will happen if I remove them? What exactly do they do anyway, and why do some spring have them and some do not?

Yeah, do that.
Do me a favor though. Can you run a video camera at all times when driving around for the next two weeks? The footage of what happens when the undamped valvespring fails and drops the valve into the motor is really something to classic to miss.

Have you ever seen a car with no shocks drive around? Yeah, shocks are the dampers for the suspension's springs. You Do not want your valves dancing around undamped. Replace the springs for <$50 or replace the motor later. If the dampers were just for show they wouldn't be there.
