Timing Chain Htting Cover?

I just started up my new 383 and it sounds like the timing chain is hitting the cover. The timing cha was reused since it was absically brand new and it was k On the od motor. But this time I went with one of those cheap shiney covers rather then the old stock one WHICH I THREW AWAY could this be? Anybody else have trouble with it?

What type of cam are you running. The dowel pin may be hitting it. You will need to fix that because you will wear a hole in your cover in no time.

Did you remember to re-install the cam retainer plate? Is that cam an LT1 style cam?

Yeah, gotta use the retaining plate AND a factory roller cam-style timing chain (not an old flat tappet style chain set).
