have a motor build question.....
Im stuck on what to do with my 91 Z. I had a 406 I was building but decided to sell it in favor of getting a house....lol. Now that I have everything squared away, its back to the drawing board. Here's what Im hoping to achieve. Id like to get 400rwhp/450ft lbs and get 25mpg on the highway. Im going to use my rebuilt 700R4 and 3.23 posi rear(till the 9in gets narrowed to fit). Im going to use the Stealth-Ram intake and still stuck on what cam to use. Everytime I talk to somebody at Comp, they suggest something for a TPI...EVEN though it wont have that on it..lol. Here's a list of what Ive chosen so far....
Stock L98 block bored .030
Jegs 197cc heads (2.05/1.60)
Comp Pro Magnum 1.6rr
Cam??
Scat Forged crank(3.75 stroke)
6.0in rods(eagle H beam)
Thats about all Ive got so far....heads should be here today or tomorrow..and the block is being clearanced and machined now. Any suggestions on a cam to achieve my numbers?? Im well aware of the PROM tuning issues...and ready to get it tuned. Thanks in advance guys.....

You sold the engine and bought a house? That must have been some engine, or not much of a house...
I've never talked to Comp, but I did fill out their form and email it. I got what I thought was a decent response. I've heard stories similar to yours about calling.
I would think an XE in the 274-282 range would get you the power. Not sure about the 25mpg part, though.

I should clarify...I sold MANY things for the downpayment... I was leaning towards the XE....but also the TPIS ZZ409 looks good....just really $$. I think 25mpg on the highway is realistic(hopefully..lol) Thats a secondary concern...as it will not be a daily driver, but these days getting good mileage is getting to be of most importance with gas over $2 a gallon.......thanks for the input.
