head and block surface

I received my Felpro 1094 headgasket (.015") toady. on the installation tips stands this:

Surface finish of the head and block is critical and must be 55 ra (60 rms) or smoother

How can i check, if the surface of the block is ok? the heads are new, so that shouldnt be a problem.

Nebu.

You'd need a surface gauge to check it properly. Don't presume that newly machined castings are smooth. They may be flat, but not very smooth.
