350 Block cleanup

Hello there

i just picked up a 350 block that has been sitting around for a couple of years. It was fully machined then embalmed, im not kidding, in rust protectant.

what is the best way to get the rust prevent stuff off of it. The cam bearings and plugs are installed so i am not thrilled about dipping it, or am i wrong there?
how can i tell if the block is honed for moly or cast rings. I know that moly rings require a finer finish but are there any visual cues?

Thanks

Niko

if it were mine i think i'd have it dipped or cleaned in a shop even if it means new cam bearings.

only thing i could think of is look at two blocks with known differant finishes and compare. my shop hones a block as part of the cleaning process.
