what to do
been browsing this site over a year. still lost on my plans..
I have an 87 IROC which I placed in moth ball 3+years ago since I broke a bolt, easy out and drill bit in the thermostat housing. I've always wanted to put a 350( preferred ZZ4) engine in it but I live in CA. The engine is 305 (LG4) with Q-Jet carb on top. It is mated with T-5 manuial transmission. I'm the 1st owner and soliciting ideas to get my ride back on the road legally in CA. Thanks for any input

I ended up replacing the intake on my 87 Firebird, same thing happened, tried to pull thermostat, and the rear bolt broke off.. Tried to drill it and use and easy out, bent the easy out, decided to drill it a hair smaller than the bolt that was in there and tap it, broke the tap off... tried to drill it all out, couldn't drill the tap. Decided it was easier to just replace the intake.
Since you have a carb, I would be willing to bed you could get a cheap replacement performance manifold. It might just be worth doing that.
