How does a supercharger work???

I know how nitrous works/kinda,but how does a supercharger work??How does psi equal more power???How do you supercharge an engine????

Just look at it this way, an engine doesn't have to work as hard to breathe. Instead of the engine trying to "suck" air in, the fresh charge is forced into the engine by the supercharger and the volumetric efficiency of the engine is increased. The greater the pressure you supercharge an engine with, the more air (and therefore more fuel) an engine can take into each cylinder up to a point. Eventually a pressure is reached where the blower becomes inefficient in that the increase in temperature of the intake charge adversely impacts a further increase in pressure. Thus, the introduction of the intercooler to allow for greater boost pressures without autoignition. This help any?

In addition (he lead up to main point). The thing that drives an internal combustion engine is the pressure held between within the combustion chamber creating the force pushing down the piston. With natural aspiration (most commonly referred to as N/A) the best cylinder pressure you could hope for would be slightly above atmospheric pressure but most run well under this pressure and still have a slight vaccum inside the cylinder at BDC. That is then compressed and ignited to create pressure. The more base pressure the more pressure you will have after compression and ignition. Thus, if you put a blower on, you will be forcing pressure into the cylinder and you will be likely to a pressure quite above that of atmospheric pressue (usually about 10 - 15 PSI above atmospheric pressure). Now that you've increased you base, you compress the base (multiplies non ignited TDC pressure) then ignites and the pressure soars and violla, torque and horsepower!

The idea behind intercoolers is that cooler air is more dense it is, and since air it pretty much universally made up the same, mostly nitrogen then oxygen, more 02. (I.E. If 140* air has an 02 density of 20mg/l (totally made up, It's not even close, just to use as an example) then 90* air would have 25mg/l). Since S/C (both roots and centrifugal), turbos, TPI, SFI, Carbs, TBI all work off of a set CFM per RPM, the colder the air, the more fuel that needs to be injected with the cold air to match the 02 needs (even though carbs pretty much can't adjust it and is why the require temp. tuning) so it doesn't go lean. Now that we have more combustable substance in the same space, we create more HP/TQ at the ignition stage.
