You can begin by checking the fusible links near the starter, the battery, and the fuse link connection at the rear of the engine near the right side:

Thanks for the info vader, where excatly are the links? i saw the one by the starter when i was screwing around with it and i saw the one your talking about at the rear of the engine the one in the picture you sent too,now where is the one by the battery? Could it be my cables are fried? they look fine but that means nothing now-a-days.How would i go about checking to see if they are fired? thanks Jamie:rockon:

There should be two or more links from the starter main power stud up to that connector. There is also likely at least one link connected to the positive battery cable. The smaller wire in the positive cable termination is connected to chassis power, through fuse links.

You can identify the start and end of fusible links by the large rubber seals over the connections.

In many cases you can give the links a gentle tug. Copper doesn't stretch, but plastic/rubber insulation does. If the link is fried, it will usually stretch.

The more sophisticated method is to meter the load end of the link with a load applied. If full battery voltage isn't present, you likely have a failed link.
