The triangular thing? Its excellent... for dropping its foam element into the carb (or TBI, as it may be...)
Doesnt flow very well from what I hear either.

Stay away from those. Any moisture or weakness in any particular point on the foam and it gets sucked into the engine.

Take it back, QUICK! Those things don't work I had one in my P/U and after 7500 miles of offroading I washed it out and didn't get any dirt. That means either I offroad in the cleanest place on earth or that foam element let it all through. I called edelbrock and asked WTF? their answer, "I've never heard of such a problem." and the foam breaks down and drops into the carb too. Just like Max said. I gave the one I had to a friend who I couldn't talk out of it. He had it catch fire ( I think he oiled it ) and we had to take the maniflod off and clean the whole damn thing, carb and all. Never ever again!

I would have to agree with everyone else, I had one on a rebuilt 302 in my old mustang, one time the car backfired and melted the foam, sucking it into the carb., just go with a kn airfilter.

I have one and love it. There is a noticable difference from the single inlet air cleaner assembly I took off. The problem is that like with the k&n you are suppose to oil it after you wash it out. Mine has trapped a lot of dirt. There is a piece that goes in to prevent the foam thingy from going into the carb.

They are basically crap. They're for street rodders who want something that looks cool (which they kind of do) but don't care about performance. Strictly all show / no go.

I think I'm going to buy one and take it to the track next time and try out some before/after runs w/ it.

It is very low profile from the looks which is very important for my setup. Plus it is supposed to flow 1000 cfm. I'm betting it kicks the crap out of my drop base 14x3" cleaner setup. If it does for the $20 purchase price I'll be extremely happy.

I don't like the foam in the carb stories I keep reading though, although I question how much of it is myth...

Maybe it's just me but it looks kinda goofy too.
