305 into a 328?
With a 400sbc crank i can make a 305 into a 328 .. but how easy is this? I have three 305s and i want to build one up for my z. I have on on the engine stande down to piston and crank .. can i just swap the crank? or do i need new connecting rods?

I think the 400 is a large journal crank. It would take some machining to make it fit.

This is a standard-305-bore version of the "famous" 334 stroker.
You either need short 400 rods, or special stroker pistons. You'll also need to clearance the block pan rails, and may need to get a small base circle cam to keep the rods away from some lobes. Don't forget the externally balanced versions of damper & flexplate.
As Ed said, it's a great way to spend more money for less power.
