Looks like a not-too-improved stock motor, with a real mild cam.
I think ME's estimate is a bit low, but not by too much; seems like those truck motors were about 250 HP or so, compared to the 210 HP L05 350. Still pretty weak for a big block. But, with some half-decent heads and a cam, there's alot of room for improvement.

That was a quote from a engine on ebay
I missed that one.... good collection of words though!!
The reason for my ownership of the 69 is the unfortunate thing, not the ownership itself. I would never have chosen to become the owner in the way it came to me.

Are you thinking of using this truck as a 3rd gen tow vehicle?
If not, we're probably stretching the bounds of "3rd gen related".
(Well, even if it is going to be a 3rd gen tow vehicle, we're stretching it...)

You should have said you're interesting in dropping that engine in your z28!
Seriously though, my neighbors have a 454SS, and it's very nice, but I thought'd it be faster. Well they're good ol' fashioned hot rodders and it's plenty fast now, but I've never seen them tow anything with it because all they own are several Chevy trucks and a '69 'maro. They have a silverado used only for towing their 'maro to the track.
I think they need that big block in a thid gen. Although they keep telling me that third gen's "just can't tow enough!" Hehe.
Laters.

i know its completely 3rd gen unrelated but if you happen to take pictures during the resto i'd love to see em.. glad to know the cars in good hands.. dont ever sell it to someone just because you need money bad.. I sold my 71 chevelle that I spent countless hours of labor not to mention money on.. sold it to a friend of mine.. a week later it was totalled... countless hours of block sanding to make that thing perfectly straight over a 2 year period.. all for nothing... such a pity. Needed money to finish payin off the TA... I shoulda just sold a kidney or part of my liver or something.. woulda been less painful then lookin at that car...
