extra wires
Hey guys, came home for Christmas break and got my tranny back in, and now I got a new project I want to do. I live in Nebraska, so more or less I can pull off and put any on that I want to a certain extent. My 86 orriginally came from Texas, but now I just want to get rid of all of the extra emmission junk and wiring that I can and still have a well running engine. Its a carburated 305, but I have no clue of the number. Can you guys help me out with all this extra stuff.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Being in Nebraska only means that you can get the car registered every year without having to prove to some government official that you haven't modified it outside of the legal bounds. It doesn't mean that it's legal to "get rid of all of the extra emmission junk and wiring" (it's federal law, not state or local).
That said, if you separate the wires you'll still need (alternator, ignition power & tach, temp & oil pressure, etc.) away from the looms, you'll find that everything else will come out as a bundle from the passenger side inner fender pass-through. I'd recommend unbolting and disconnecting it properly rather than cutting and slashing. You never know when that old harness will come in handy - either to you or some fellow 3rd gen'r.
Oh, Go Huskers! (Native, don't ja know...)
