BIG Starting Problem
Ok Last 8 months or so whenever I start my car it takes 8-10 turns of the key to ignition to start my car. The starter would click each time. Just had my transmission rebuilt by a shop. After driving it about 6 times it would not start. Checked battery, bought and installed new neg and pos cables. Took starter to autozone and it tested perfect. When key is in on position everything works fine. When i turn the key to start nothing happens except the fuel temp guage flicks over and my !Brake light lights up. And I tried it in park and nuetral. So I need some help! THanks.

does the security light come on? if it does its probably a vats problem.. if not i'd look to the neutral saftey switch located on the side of the shifter..

Try starting it in reverse, drive or one of the other gears. If it starts, then the park/neutral switch is not properly adjusted. You also mentioned that you had just had the transmission rebuilt, you might want to check the transmission cable where it connects to the transmission. It does not sound like a VATS problem at the moment.

Another thing about the vats. If it's working properly, the security light will come on for a couple of seconds, then go off when you first turn the key over. If the security light stays on or doesn't come on at all, then you have a vats problem.
