stripped bolt
can any one tell me how can i possibly get a stripped hex bolt out? it's one of the intake runner bolts, and it's the bottom bolt that is in between the runner,i have tried everything and i can't seem to get it to unscrew,so i thought maybe i can get an idea from the forum members,i need to get it out as soon as possible, so if you have an idea or an answer, please let me know, thanks,GM HOMBRE.

apply preasure on the side of the hex or under it if you can while you spin it. impact wrech might help as well. vise grips and pulling straight out if it's striped that bad can't be much holding it in.

I am guessing that you have the slp runners? Sounds like you did not put antiseized on teh threads?? Anyway, what I do is I set my tool in the hex head, tap the tool on the end where you put the wrench. Not too hard, yet not too soft. Then, make sure you are directly inline with the hex hole and slowly apply pressure. If that does not work, use a star type socket, the type of socket used for the lower intake. I find that a 40 or 45 (can't remember which?) will fit right in there incase of last resort and bite where you need it, but the bolt is toast then! and when you put the intake back together, make sure to use plenty of antisieze!

If any part of the head is sticking out you could slot it with a grinder and try to use a screw driver to turn it out. I did this with my smog pump when i destroyed the heads on those.

stripped bolt
ok guys the head of the bolt is stripped,in the middle of it,it's for an 89 GTA 350 TPI,i tried to put a 9/16 socket over it with the hope it might catch and get stuck to the bolt so i can unscrew it, but no dice,i've tried hitting it from the top on the left side of it so that it would come loose but nothing,if i can't take it out i'm afraid i'm going to have to cut the runner off so i can get it off,so you see ideas are needed badly, thanks,GM HOMBRE. p.s it's the bolt on the front runner facing towards the throtle body.

GMHombre,
Craftsman has a set of easy-out sockets on the market now. They are designed for situation similar to what your problem is. I can't say for certain how they would work on a round torx type screw since they are designed more for nuts and bolts where the slats are stripped or rounded off. A complete set of them (13) run for about $49.95 plus tax at sears. They are designed for standard and metric applications. Good luck.

If I am correct your talking about a allen bolt?
with the middle striped out I have used a allen socket
and a old fashion impact driver.
Place the socket in the driver apply hand pressure and tap
with a hammer as you twist.
But I have also used a Impact driver that goes in the end
of a air hammer place the socket on the driver twist with wrench
hit the trigger. But be careful not to apply to much force.

up at work we have a set of misc lil spikes with a pointe end we hammer into the bolt then put a wrench on the other end of the spike and turn the bolt out
works nicely and i've used the technique plenty of times on my heads.

If all else fails, grind the top of the head off. Once the intake is off, should be able to get vise-grips on it.
Depending on location of the head, you may need a diegirnder/dremmel.

stripped bolt
today i went to sears and bought the sockets trickster told me about, but no dice,so what i did was i grabed a screw driver(flat) and hammered it in on all sides of the bolt,to try and make gaps,i then put in the tork bit in there with 2 extensions and put my impact on it,well it finally unscrewed, what a relief,so i changed out the intake gaskets and will proceed tomarrow to finish it all off, thanks to everyone with your ideas and help.GM Hombre
