Right now I use syn. Havoline 5w30. What should I use for maximum engine life?

The best kind of oil is clean and fresh.
Next, synthetic.
Your choice sounds entirely suitable to me. My preference for weight is basically the thinnest thing that still holds high pressure, so I use Mobil1 0W30 or if I can't get that 5W30.
You should put synthetic in the other palces in the car too, especially the rear end. That's worth a couple of miles to the gallon sometimes. If you do that don't forget the pos additive, in fact you might want to put in 2 thing s of it because the synthetic oil seems to need it more.
