fwd third gen

Do you guys know of a place that can fabricate a k-member to house a chrysler 2.5l turbo 2 drivetrain. My friend has a 600 hp turbo engine and want's to put it in a real car. It shouldn't be too hard. At this point we just need a fab K-member. Cost is not a consern, he just wants to do it to be different. I keep telling him to mid engine/rwd that drivetrain into the thirdgen.

People that eat turd sandwiches with ketchup are "different" but it sure doesn't make it ok.

If your friend has a 600hp chrysler 2.5, he's already "different" enough.

what about a trans adapter plate to mate the 2.5l to the 700r4. That might be more reasonable, guys??

Did you try Spohn? I'd think he would have the time to fab something like that up. It would have to be an entirely custom job.

take the motor.... turn it 90*

get adapter plate...... or get a RWD chrysler trans that bolts to that motor.

take the motor trans combo, set it where you want it in the engine...... make some motor mounts....

get under the car, fab the crossmember...

get the driveshaft made, and hook everything up...

there ya go... its like a 11 sec K car... but now it can hook leaving the line.

Does anyone know how I can install VW Bug engine in the hatch of my IROC?? I just wanted to be different and see if I could ...... WTF????

Has your friend considered counseling at all?? I think they have some recovery programs for people like him.

But if you(he) truly wants to go through with this project, I would take Mr. Dude's advice and rotate that sucker and at least connect it at the rear.

If you think that idea is harebrained...

I had this half-baked idea come to mind one day as I sat contemplating the fate of my beater GP. Stuff another FWD motor/tranny into the trunk. Mate it to the rear wheels, fabricate some sort of control linkage to the gas pedal so both engines operate at the same time, and I got an eighties version of the "4-4-2-much". Hey, it was just a thought.... Definitly thinking outside the box. Like, out past Neptune or so...

Why dont you turn it sideways and try to keep the thing rwd? I am sure you could rig up a 4cyl camaro's bell housing to work with the mopars. Or sell the motor and build a turbo buick motor.

Thanks for the help guys. I was afraid that this could become flame bate. But this thread turned out to give me the help I wanted. I'm going to look into finding a rwd mopar tranny for a 4 cylinder. Or get a trans adapter plate. Great thread!

for what it's worth......

you might try looking in the dodge dakota 4 cylinder trucks. they have 2.5's in them, but i'm not sure if the bolt pattern is the same as the fwd 2.5

you could always come up with an adapter plate.

I vote for making it a mid engine. put the seat as far back as the go and fire wall if off there on back.
Who needs a back seat ina thirdgen??
[except for put them all the way down to get busy in]

hahaha to the sexual inuendos[sp]...

Will a stock 2.5l truck tranny hold up to 600hp for more than 10minutes? I know chrysler is king for building junk trannies.

you guys have exposed the truth, the real reason for this thread.
Two points,
1. It's alot harder to "get it on" inside a fwd dodge.
2. it's harder to pick up a "participant" when driving a fwd dodge.

Come on, if you put the front passenger seat back all the way and reclined you get much more room. Just don’t go crazy or you’ll brake the front right hand side mount on the seat frame. The bike is more fun.

I've never had a problem doing it inside a thirdgen camaro. Rather easy thought. Definetly easier in it than my old hyundai.

Anyways. What is done to this 2.5l turbo engine to give it 600hp?
What can you do to them beside throwing on a huge turbo and fragging the internals?
