There is another Futura that is cheaper. I think it is the Futura GLH. They are rated to 118mph, and are $299 for a set of 4 at Pep Boys.

Pep boys has a Futura GTX 245-50-16 its H rated to 130 mph, they sale for 75.00 a tire. Best deal for the money, the traction is decent until the tread gets low. And they last a long time compared to the Z rated Futuras. They have one of the widest tread widths ive seen in the 245 size.

Yeah I have those Futura GTX's on my car right now, but somehow the back ones got bald and its time for 4. I'm looking at the Ultra Z's. Like Mike said, traction is pretty good until you wear em down, then they suck regardless of conditions.
I don't use my car in the winter (mod time ), but why are you running 16x8's in the winter? You want as little tire on the road as possible (within reason) for better handling in the snow. 245's are going to disperse the weight of the car further, so you don't have as much weight per in^2 of contact area. I'd look for some 15x7 f-body rims if I were driving in the winter, with maybe a 215-225. Still not ideal, but better than 245's.

Is Cooper bad? I have some Cooper Vipers that are 225/60/15 (front) and 235/60/15(rear) for about $60-65 each. Just wondering if i screwed myself?
