OPTIMA spiracell battery questions...?
Couldnt think of a better section to put this in so here it goes.
I bought one of those fancy optima cell batteries thats not supposed to leak and what not a while ago and well heres my story. One weekend while i was gone i left the dome light on in my car and well when i got back hello dead battery. Well me being all knowing about optima batteries decided okay i gotta go meet this girl and i want to take my maro so ill just jump it from one of our other cars. After about 5-6 attempts i gave up and went to pull the battery from the car so i could hook it up to the charger and then realized wtf this leak proof battery is leaking out of the terminals.
Well after doing some research i got some very mixed information but the one conclusion that i have coming to is trying to jump one of these batteries causes it to boil....someone also said even a normal charging system can over charge these batteries and wreck them?
Basically i need as much info as anyone has on these expensive optima cell batteries. What do i have to do to make sure it doesnt get overcharged. Is there anything i should know ie dont try to jump it. I know these have become popular in a lot of show cars and i was under the impression that it doesnt cause the things around it to rust? or is that not true? Also what special things should i do for this battery in terms of storing it for the winter? Any info on these things is much appreciated.
