world products sportsman 2 head ?'s
have the possibility of picking up a bare head. it's a 200 cc head, straight plug, setup for 2.02/1.6 valves. has 64cc chambers, that's about all i can think of to describe it at the moment. it is a cast iron head
if i get the head and then pick up a second bare head, i'm kicking the idea around of putting them on a 350. i've been told it'll be too much airflow for a street/strip 350.
any thoughts? it's not a definite thing of me getting the one head, it's to help me make an informed decision i guess.

A 200 cc head would still work on the street but you would not have much low end torque. Those heads are for a high reving engine like 6000+.

i neglected to mention that these heads would be used in a car with a manual transmission. thinking about stepping up to a 3.73 or 4.10 gear and use a t56.
still more thoughts?

Well that makes all the difference then. I would get them and stick a real nasty cam in that revs to like 6500.

Check out www.chevyhiperformance.com they have a nice list of heads and their flow numbers.
Actually go here I found it for ya.
http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...598/index.html
The sportsman II 200cc version flows 240 intake and 164 exhaust.
hmm what is this...vortecs flow 239/160 hmmm
LOL
seriously vortecs are pretty nice heads for the money. But the sportsman IIs have plenty of metal to port away.

What do you have to spend to get to that lift? Answer: About what the Sportsmans cost.
Which one is going to come out on top if both are given the same level of porting effort? Which one will be the higher overall quality casting?
Vortecs aren't bad, but they really aren't all that cost-effective when you consider all of the costs of changing them from a truck head to a performance head.

That is at .500 lift.
Im still thinking about sportman II heads. More potential is there. Plus id rather have the bigger valves. Sportsman IIs and a extreme energy 270 roller cam should make some good power

Main reason Id rather have the sportsman IIs is for the valvetrain. Its already beefed up enough to take good lift instead of .460 like vortecs.

here's what i'm thinking....
i have a roller 350 shortblock sitting in the garage on the stand. i want to build a street/strip engine, possibly be a low 13- high 12 second car.
yet i still want to drive the car daily during the good weather that we have.
i'm almost thinking the 200cc would flow too much air. aluminum heads are out of the question, as i'm leery of running an engine too hot and warping them. the expense of aluminum doesn't attract me either, unless i got a hell of a deal on them.
i have a set of 416 castings in the garage that i already had punched out to 1.94/1.5 valves, but i'm considering selling them as they may not support what i want to do. they would still need ported, but i'm sure anyone with the proper equipment and patience could make these heads flow.
feedback? i'm not plunking money down on heads right now, i just want to know what else is out there.
valvetrain is another issue with me, i've taken quite the interest in this ls1 1.7 rocker upgrade, and i'd like to see how it would work with an lt4 hotcam. doing some quick math tells me to expect around .557" lift. here's my math below
take .492" (lift @ valve with 1.5 rockers) and divide it by 1.5
that gives me .328" lift. this is the lobe lift of the camshaft itself.
then i took the .328" and multiplied it by 1.7", which gave me .557"

I don't think the 200cc sportsman IIs would be that bad for street use. I think they would work pretty well. Im not sure what other heads are out with less than a 200cc runner for that price.
