kc4 oil cooler, corvette style
Ok here is some new info concerning the KC4 Engine Oil Cooler.
I just pulled the engine for the OKINAWA T/A out of a 1986 corvette, and i grabbed the Kc4 cooler too. Now here is the news...
Apparently the Y-Body cars got a oil-to-air cooler. Now whether or not this is a sufficient upgrade, i will let you guys debate. Heres the details.
1. It has the same oil filter mounting plate(from what i can tell) as the F-body
2. The lines, instead of feeding to the radiator, heater core.... whatever, go straight to a 3 row aluminum cooler assy.
3. The lines are 5/8-3/4 inch rubber all the way there.
4. There is a 12 volt DC fan that forces air over the cooler.
5. The oil flows to the cooler, as in a closed system, not the engine coolant.
Anyhow, any more info that can be brought in please bring it....
I don't feel like trolling the C-4 VETTE boards.
I will be finding a way to install it on the T/A, and then when i go back to the states, remove, and use on the IROC.

well, it works.......
HAHAHAHAH. I tried to prime the engine with my drill today, and to my dismay, I found out how the adapter routes the oil out to the cooler.....
Tell ya what, I lost about a qt. of oil out of adapter before I realized the hose to the cooler was disconnected.
