This should be the last ?, I hope!...TIMING, IAC, TPS.

Being that my car hasnt been cranked since last Sunday. I know the timing is probably off a little so my question is:
Should I just get the timing as close as possible (i dont have a timing light)
and then set the IAC and then the TPS?
What should I do?

Also I got one of those volt meters(not digital) from Walmart(cheap), will this work for testing/setting the TPS?

i don't know of any way to set timing with out a light with any degree of accuracey and you need a DVM not analog.

Whoops,what i got is a DIGITAL MULTI-METER.
It says that I can check all kinds of volts, ohms and stuff.
I dont know what holes on the meter to connect the tester leads on.
When testing the TPS, what am I testing the DCV(ACV),DCA,Resistance,Diode or Continuity?
that way I will know how to hook up the METER.
Also on the dial what do I turn that to? It has a bunch of setting that I can set it to...

thanks

Wish,

You can try to set the timing by ear. Get it as close as you feel is correct. You can adjust the timing at any time without affecting the TPS and IAC/throttle minimum position adjustments too much.

When setting the TPS, connect to the top two terminals on the TPS using very slender meter probes, sewing needles poked into the back of the connector, or a special TPS breakout device. Use the DCV inputs on the DMM since you are going to measure D.C. voltage. Set the scale to the lowest possible range that wil measure at least 1.0 V. Your target setting should be 0.54VDC, +/- 0.07VDC. In other words, set it at 0.47 - 0.61 VDC, but try to get as close to the base setting as possible.

Once the TPS is correctly adjusted and the engine has been thoroughly warmed and is in closed-loop mode, you can set the throttle minimum air position. Some call this setting the IAC, but there is really no adjustment of the IAC stepper motor.

Vader, I dont know if it is the same on all cars, but on mine, you have to set minimum air first, then the TPS. Cuz if you adjust the minimum air, you are also re-adjusting the TPS you have already set.

Ok, I've got the connectors set.
on the meter **** the scales for volt checking are: RED V~ 600 or 200
White V - 600, 200, 20, 2
which one do I set it to. I am not electrically inclined. I never have been......LOL

You'll only be measuring tenths of a volt, so use the lowest setting the meter provides.
