Rear main seal leaking... What should I do?
My '92 had developed a minor leak (a drop or 2) about 7 or 8 months ago and now it has become worse, leaving a small puddle to the point that I have to check it every couple days. I'd rather not replace the seal. Is there a good seal conditioner or some product that stop a leak from the rear main? I use GTX High-mileage oil, and it has seal conditioners in it which I'm sure helps, so I'm not really sure if an additive would help any. Thanks for any input.

Well, if it leaks a "puddle" any type of additive that would maybe stop that would probably do damage to the oil pump.
Replace the seal and surrounding gaskets, you DON'T have to pull the engine. but u will have to pull the timing cover to be safe when replacing the front seal/to get the oil pan off.

Yeah I guess I'll have to tackle it that way. Never had to mess with the rear main seal before so we'll see what happens.
Thanks,
Chris

No additive will even touch a rubber RMS. The additives do work with leather seals (who's seen one?) and rope seals. The dont expand rubber or recondition a craked seal.
You got it easy RMS with an auto trans is a peice of cake just remember to grease the seal before installation.
