Here is what my setup is. I am putting it into my car this week so I don't know the et yet.
chevy 400 bored .030
balanced rotating assembly
H-beam rods
Probe Industries forged flat top pistons
Total Seal Gapless Rings
Nodular Iron Crankshaft
TPIS ZZX camshaft
Comp Cams retro-fit roller lifters
AFR 195 heads
Jegs 1.5 roller rockers
Victor Jr. intake
Demon 750 carb
10.4 compression
NOS sniper
1 5/8 heddman headers
custom y-pipe to a flowmaster
"Neal Chance Racing" 3000 stall converter
custom built 700r4
Richmond 3.73's

Both AFR and TPIS say this is worth st least 520 to 530 hp.

Hey 94-6spd, did you buy a shortblock or build it yourself? I noticed the Probe forged pistons in your list and I don't know many people running them but that's what Wheeler motorsports puts in their shortblocks so that's what I got. I guess we'll find out how they hold up huh?

I built this myself. I hear that the pistons hold up very well. I don't think they've been around very long so that is why they're not so popular.

When you guys got the afr's did you slap em right on or did you take them somewhere to get some port work done?

Here's mine...Not quite done yet but will be over 500 once I get the blower. I hope it still counts with forced induction
385, forged everything, 9.3:1
AFR 190, fully ported/polished
Comp Cams blower grind
Comp Cams valvetrain
Hooker Super Comp headers
Mufflex 4" w/ Spintech muffler

Yeah that kind of power is totally out of the question using TPI, without some kind of MAJOR power adder. That doesn't apply to FI in general though, it's just a feature of TPI in particular; some of the other FI systems such as the MiniRam (and I would expect the LT1, since it's all but a direct copy of the MiniRam) seem to have little trouble achieving that level of flow.
The most recent street motor I've built that was in that range was a stock-block 434 with Edelbrock Perf RPM heads, Comp XR282HR, and an Accel ProRam.

no one answered my question.....for you guys running afr's (which seems to be all of you) are you just slapping em on out of the box or are you getting some port work done before theyre installed?

should be slightly over 5 now that the heads are fixed..
see mods
made 450hp with exhaust flow peaking at 143cfm.
Now that they flow 188+ and the intakes flow 20+ cfm more.. should be 500 easy.

I have not had a chance to do 1/4 mile or dyno yet but I know my (machinist) mechanic (who builds engines and races cars) said I am at 500hp. I cant get anymore out of it without hurting the engine. I will at some point have a 454 built with a supercharger, forged pistons and all that pushing it way over 500hp. I may even add NOS. I am having a lot of fun building up my third gen car. I only drive it about 4k miles a year and when I do its a blast!

I guess this makes me one of the few people doing this with TPI based fuel injection.
modified GM HT383 shortblock, forged flat-top pistons and 4340 6.0 rods and 3.8" stroke crank, 11.5:1 compression
AFR 190 aluminum heads, 2.02/1.6 valves
AFR hydra-rev kit
comp-r roller lifters
comp cc306 hydraulic roller cam and true roller chain
LT1 intake, ported. 58mm throttle body
Accel gen VI DFI
msd-6al ignition system
hedman LT headers and borla catback exhaust
all ARP fasteners and external bolt-on parts are used
running through a T-56 and spec stg. III ceramic clutch, when I get around to putting this in it should be good for 525 HP. Haven't an educated guess on torque, but should be around 550ish?... With the rotating assembly I'll have plenty of room for more cam, and 200 HP shot N20.
The only thing that sucks about this is for the time being I'm stuck with a built 10-bolt. At least it's as beefy as a 10 bolt gets and I don't plan on drag-racing.
Considering I'm using an LT1 intake (which actually makes pretty decent power for a short runner intake down low) and newer DFI, I dont think I'll have much of a problem making power. Is it me or do comparable LT1 motors make slightly more HP? Comparable LT1's are making 450 HP at the wheels.
If I can't get close to that I'm gonna get pissed!

First off, I am not trying to start any crap. I just want clarification. Did you mean to say 3430? I have never heard of that alloy. However, 4340 is very popular and strong...

This combo we built is doing it in two vettes.
Everything is available to duplicate it.......awesome street motor too. Gets 22 MPG!
Pulls the two front tires right off the ground in full weight cars with AC, power seats, doors, mirrors, the whole nine yards.
EVERYTHING IS STOCK except the motors and trannies/TC.
