Custom Power Steering Hose installed...
In case anyone else is interested in this, here are my results for fabbing up a custom power steering line. The Aeroquip shop I use was origianlly going to take my original factory hose, cut off the crimp connections, braze on some fittings and assemble a new line using high pressure fabric braided line. However, they mistakenly switched my original hose with another customer's and gave my line to the wrong person. So, I went with my original plan of using the correct adapters and AN fittings.
Some people felt this would be difficult because of the adapter fittings needed, but it was very easy to do.
Here are my results:
Here's the assembled hose. The hose at the top is the return line.
On the car #1. I took these pics before I cleaned up the PS fluid that had puked everywhere from the stock line that was leaking.
On the car #2.
I'm really glad I went this route. It also relieved some clutter from the engine bay. For anyone else who is interested here are the fittings you'll need:
(1) 16mm O-ring to -6AN adapter for the pump
(1) 18mm O-ring to -6AN adapter for the steering box
(2) -6AN 90° Steel fittings
(1) -6 high pressure fabric braided hose or teflon lined steel braided hose
