3.42 get me into the 14's?
I ran my car for the first time this weekend heres what I got:
R/T- 1.082
60- 2.137
1/8- 9.848 @ 70.46 MPH
1000- 12.874
1/4- 15.459 @87.91 MPH
Best time of the day,
R/T- 1.466
60- 2.107
1/8- 9.801 @ 68.85 MPH
1000- 12.838
1/4- 15.414 @ 87.47 MPH
With the help of 3.42 rear will that get me into the 14's and what else will help me acheve this goal and not a bigger motor!
Buy the way the car has 2.73 now.
------------------
87 Z28 LB9, Auto, Gutted air boxes, K & N fillters, Dyno Max 3" cat back, Accel 8.8 mm spirals, Accel cap and rotor, Accel coil, rapid fires, and 160 Stat.

I have 3.42's and should probably run 14.9 as my sig indicates. It g-teched at a 14.9 at 93 mph...my actual track time was a 15.3 at 91 but that was before I had the new tranny and the free mods. I have talked to several people who said the free mods would give me a couple tenths and then the tranny should have given me .25 or so with the stage one shift kit and corvette servo.

I have 3.42's mods in my sig and my tranny has a stage one shift kit and a Corvette Servo. Last year I ran a 15.3 at 91 mph but that was before my current mods and tranny rebuild. According to the people I have talked to I should be around a 14.9 or 14.85 or so. It g-teched at like a 14.87 at 93 mph and I ran a computer simulation on it and it ran a 14.83 at like 93.xx or something close. You should be close to 14's if your tranny is decent.

first of all, running a g tech and running on a computer are not real time numbers. i think a swap to 3.42 gear would cut you down to about a 15.1. you'd likely get more of an improvement from a stall converter.

Which stall 2k or 2.3k?

Best 15.414 @ 87.47

Yeah, I don't think gears alone would get you into the 14s either. Close though.
You'd want a 2400ish rpm stall IMO. Darrel Young has a 2200-2400 unit for $199, I'm running that and am happy w/ it ... www.racing-transmissions.com
I don't know what IrocManiac is blabbering about...

Well I did. I just put the car up on jack stands and went to it. Rented a tranny jack from a local place as well. Nothing fancy to do.

gears only gained me a tenth 3.23>3.73, but my mph did go up by 3,so I was pretty happy.
