Go or no go??

Got the 4 bolt block checked today. It will take .60 over to clear. Everyone here says no biggie for a street motor. Only drawback being unable to use it again without sleeveing.

Set up:

383(88) stroker balanced assembly w/forged pistons.
Hydraulic roller cam and lifters
1.5 Roller rockers
Edelbrock performer RPM heads
Holley stealth ram injection

Would you build the .60 4-bolt or a .30 over 2 bolt?

How is the core shift on the 4-bolt case? Is it a high nickel casting? What other work will be necessary?

Have you seriously considered splayed/studded 4-bolt caps for the 2-bolt case? It would probably result in a stronger finished assembly than the factory 4-bolt.

Well, then it's a coin-toss. If you can get running right with only bored holes and new jugs, that seems reasonable. As long as it is assembled correctly and maintained well, you might never have to worry about boring again. Balance everything for the new pistons and rods, and forget about the 2-bolt case until you need another project.
