what cam?

i'm going to put a 350 in in place of my 283. i can't decide what cam to get. the car is a daily driver but i want it to have good performance. i'm thinking about something like a comp 270H, XE262, lunati Bracket master II with 284* duration, or a crane 272H. i want something around that range but there are so many to choose from i don't know which one to get.

heres how the rest of the engine will be. 041 heads, about 9.5-10:1 compression, performer intake and 600cfm performer carb, flowtech shorty headers, it will have a y-pipe with a 2.5" after the Y.

the tranny is a th2004r with a .67 OD and it has stock 3.23 rear gears. the comverter came out of a caprice with a 305 so the stall should be around 2000 maybe?

i would like to get about 300-350hp and be as good as i can get it to be on gas in that range. thx.

I run the H272 and love it,but the XE262 would work well also.
The Lunati might be a little too big with your gear/converter
combo.

Car: 1988 Firebird S/E
Engine: 406Ci Vortec SBC
Transmission: TH-350/3500stall
Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
For 350hp with the stuff you have , I'd go with a Crane
Powermax 278-2... specs are

278 290 duration .467/.494 lift

222/234 dur@.050" 114 c/L

lots of power to 5800, good idle, good brakes.

check it out here

thx, i guess i'l probably go with the 278-2.

also, how much milage could i get with the 278-2 and my setup? i would think it wouldn't be too much worse than a 283 because of the extra torque city driving. you think i could get around 12mpg city and 20 highway? thx
