Engine: 5.7 TPI
Transmission: TH-700R4
Why does Dyno2000 love the LT-4 Hot Cam.....
I have been plugging in cam specs to Dyno 2000 for the past 2 days looking for a cam that will perform well in my setup.
I have tried the Comp 264&266, Crane 2031&2032, various Crower and GMPP cams. The LT4 Hot Cam is always the cam with the most power and torque and the highest volumetric
efficiency%. Even at lower rpm, Dyno 2000 likes the Hot Cam.
Dyno 2000 indicates more low end torque with the Hot Cam than the Comp 264, which has much less duration and overlap.
Any ideas why this is?????
I am running the stock cam in my current engine with 1.6 roller rockers, it is a torque BEAST down low:
355 Short Block, 9.5:1 Compression
Pro Topline 906 Vortec heads, mild porting
SDPC Vortec base
AS&M Runners
Ported Plenum
52mm TB
Its not that I don't like the specs of the Hot Cam, its just that I want a cam that will enhance midrange power without sacrificing low end torque. The Hot Cam 'appears' to be a 6500 rpm cam from the specs.

If you're using the "Roller Lifters" selection for the Hot Cam, don't.
Read the instructions for DD2000 and you'll understand why.

Im running a hotcam and a roughly 3k stall vigilante :-) lets just say i dont know what lack of lowend torque is :-)
I dont think it hurts compared to a stock cam in the lower ranges at all, it will surge a lil bit here and ther im like talking tin the 1000-1300 or so rpm range.........
loss of torque down low if any is not a problem once u lay inot a few times with a decently tuned car and realize what that hotcam can do vs. the stocker cam lol
huge difference, not as efficient down low yes, but everywhere else it is pretty damned powerful, i can jump on LS1's and hold them back 2-4 cars easy rolling on the street so im not complaining
