Stewart Water Pump will not fit!!!!

OK, this is an extension of my last thread. This thing will not go on!!!! I've got the top right bolt back, but the top left bolt won't go in. It appears that the problem is that the Stewart Water Pump is TOO BIG!?? I can't lift the pump any higher, but the bolt holes just don't line up. WTF! It's almost like the top left corner of the water pump needs to be machined down or something.

I'm sorry if this is incoherent, but I've been playing with this thing for 4 hours.

Anybody else ever had this problem? Or is there a trick to doing this?
