How can I make this engine work in MY car??

OK, I want to get this block for my 89' IROC--->
Rocket block, 4.00*4.125 = 415 cid

Block Price: $2,119.95
Part # 22551788
Bore as Shipped: 4.000"
Max. Bore: 4.190"
Max. Stroke: 4.125"
Main Bore: 2.450" (350)
Oiling Type: Wet / Dry
Deck Height: 9.025"
Rear Seal : 2 Piece
Main Caps: 4-Bolt Splayed
Weight (lbs): 200

Technical features of the Rocket Block:

Steel Main Bearing Caps
Reinforced Decks
Siamesed Cylinders
Relocated Camshaft
Big Block Cam Bearings
Spread Pan Rails
Priority Main Oiling
Dual Starter Mounts
Mechanical Fuel Pump
-------
It will bolt right in except for 1 thing... It has a 2-piece rear main seal, which means that the flywheel bolt-pattern is different.

How can I MAKE my T-56 flywheel bolt up to this block?

OR, better yet, is there a way to *convert* this block to a 1-piece rear main, so my flywheel will bolt right up?

moroso makes an adapter to convert to 1 piece rear main seal. not sure about balance issues though. i think if you have a 2 piece rear main seal your flywheel will have a differant balance then if you have a 1 piece seal.

I believe centerforce makes a flywheel that will work. Give them a call.

ede-This must be what you were refering to http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...archresult=yes

The only thing it does is it allows you to use an old-stlye crankshaft in an 87-92 block.

Guess I'll look up Centerforce now.

Thanks!

Just buy a flywheel made for a 2 piece rear seal crank. They're pretty cheap, and alot of people make em. I think I got mine for under $100, but I can't remember. Mine was for an auto, not sure of differences for the manual trannies. I was thinking the t56 used the same flywheel as the T5s, so they shouldn't be hard to find.

Nope, the T56 flywheel is totally different than the T5.
However, I found that Centerforce makes a T56 flywheel for the old-style 2-piece rear main blocks.
-Thanks everybody!

A Rocket block is not the same as a regular chevy block.I believe the deck is taller and the cam centerline is raised for increased stroke or something like that.434's are made out of those blocks on a regular basis. If your planning on making more than 700 hp.its the way to go but up to that point a bow tie sportsman block for around $1600 is a good choice.Or if your 500 hp.or less go with a production 400 block.
