Anyone gotten heads hot-tanked & magnafluxed?

The cost varies rather widely, depending especially on what other work is being done at the same time. As a stand-alone job, it should cost about $60-75 for a set of bare castings (not paying for disassembly).

around 50 dollars here. i have my own mag yoke and dye pen set up so i do it my self. you can buy dye pen kits at welding supply stores fairly cheap and they're easy to use.

Great, that's the amounts I was hoping for. Yeah, RB, I'll be bringing them bare castings. I have two sets of 2.8 heads.. one is all gunked up, and one is gunk-free but rusty. I'll have them do the gunked up ones first, since I'm sure sandblasting the other set will add to the pricetag.

Ed, I was thinking about those dye sets.. I know Eastwood carries 'em, but didn't know I could find those at welding stores. If the cost was too high for a magnaflux I planned to get the set- but hey if they're cheap I might as well get one & try it on the rusty heads!
