Torker intakes any good?

Does anyone know what the deal is with the Edelbrock Torker II intake? There is one in the bargain finder here for $75 and would like to know more. Any specs or experiences would be appreciated, thanks.

It will be going on a cammed(not sure on cam specs) 350 with headers and exhaust. Thats it for now. I just need a better than stock intake for now while I get money together to build another 350 while this one is in the car.

Thanks

its a single plane intake....likes the higher RPM's...I believe they sell new for around $90.00. I would stick with a dual plane intake for a daily driver.

I picked mine up for 40 bucks and put it on for chits and giggles. Does better on the top end compaired to a regular Performer intake and I didn't notice any drop in bottom end torque. I've heard people on here say don't waste your money on them for whatever reason though.

Summit p/n EDL-5001 (SBC), $94.95 + order fee. RPM range 2500-6500.

With the single-plane design, you'd better believe the 2500 part. They're dead below that, absolutely dead.

Performer RPM Summit p/n EDL-7101, $129.95. RPM range 1500-6500 (Wieand Stealth similar, idle to 6800, $145). You can believe the 1500.

Since engines typically don't operate at one RPM all the time (like max torque or max HP), it's the "area under the curve" that gets you from point A to point B. More area under the curve, less time it takes to get you there.

Guess which type has more area under the curve?

Once again, you get what you pay for...

It wasn't even a very good intake when it was new, back 25 years ago. People would go faster with a SP2P (forerunner of the Perf RPM). You'll go faster still today with the RPM.

$75 is not a bargain. Keep looking.

Thanksguys, I never knew it was a single plane. Like I said I knew nothing about ti. I can pick up a Performer for about $180 or an RPM for $220. Ill get one of those.

You can/should be able to pick up a Performer less than $180. If it's only the intake you are after. A month or two ago I bought one on eBay used,in excellent condition, for like $50 shipped. Even new and polished, I've haven't seen them that much.

I had a torkerII years ago. It turned out to be a POS on my daily driven 350 Vega's setup. Wound up giving it away and swapping back on a stock dual plane. The additional weight really wasn't an issue with it though.

And is the performer just lighter the the factory intake? I was told once its not much better than the factory ones. The Per. RPM should be a lot better though right?

yeah, The Performer is pretty much a stock replacment..The Rpm would be a better choice in a "cammed" 350.
