has anyone tried the r12 to r134 retrofit kit? you can get one from at auto zone that says it is a complete retrofit and recharge kit for like 40 bucks. are these any good? dont you have to drain out the old oil, it doesnt say to do that with this kit, just add the refridgerant with oil and stop leak in it. Any opinions?

Before you retrofit to R134 check to see if a local AC shop has Freeze 12. It is compatible with R12 and you do not have to drain anything. It also operates at the same pressure and cools the same as R12. If you swap to R134 it will not cool as good because of condenser coil design.
You said something about a leak? If you have one you have to get it fixed($$$). There is nothing you can put in that will stop one. If you do get it fixed, check on Freeze 12, it is much better than R134 on an older system. I have it on my 88 Festiva and it is great, IMO.
