carb flooded... need help fast!!!

Ok, I am freaked out, I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird L03, with a carb changeover, and today my carb flooded pretty bad. There is fuel sitting in the secondaries right above the throttle foil, and there is also fuel on top of my actaul intake. Did I destroy my carb somehow? I dont know much about carbs honestly, but could my float bowl be flooded. Or something like my accelerator pump be broken. Again I know basically nothing about carbs. Here is what I did recently, this could have led to this.

I got rid of my TBI and went to carb, well I got an edelbrock 600 electric choke, I put a cheap *** 2 port fuel pressure regulator on it, and unfortunately it made my stock intank fuel pump go out, so I just received and installed a holley red carb specific inline fuel pump. I have it located up front in the engine bay on the fenderwell and I just hooked the original fuel feed line into the intake of the pump. Then sent the out to the carb. Well I start it up (after working out a couple of querks) and it starts up like a carebed car should. Its on for about 10-15 seconds, and then it starts stuttering and gagging. Well I turn it off. And there is what I described up top. Fuel sitting on my secondary throttle foils, and it is LITERALLY dripping from the spouts on the primaries. Dont know exactly what they are called, but they are not the little spouts that usually shoot the fuel out, I think they are the venturies. They are the little tubes enclosed by a circle of metal at the top of the carb. I dont know why fuel would be dripping out of my venturies, but I dont think its good. My pump is default set at 7 psi, so I dont think I could have flooded it. Anyways, if someone could help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you got a piece of crud in your float needle/seat.

Alright thanks guys, just one question more. How do I fiddle with my float? And also, I bought the carb new, so I dont think it would be in their upside down, but who ever knows. Thanks for response.

If there is something stuck in the needle/seat, you might be able to clear it. Disconnect the power to the fuel pump, start the engine. Run it until the carb is dry. Reconnect the power to the pump, and start it again.

When something is trapped in the needle/seat, the float is pushing on it because the fuel bowl is too full. By running the carb dry with no fuel coming in, the float will drop down, releasing the pressure on the debris in the needle/seat. When the pump is back on, the flow in with the float dropped down may flush the debris out and into the fuel bowl, where it will remain harmlessly until the carb can be disassembled and cleaned.

the venturi is were the "barrels" slightly tapper at the bottom this helps create vacumm and push more air into the engine. "the metal circles" your were refering to are there to help atomize the fuel so it mixes better. some one correct me if im wrong.
