Fuel Return Line

Hey guys I was just wondering when swaping to my carb. (Currently tbi) Do you guys see a problem with me plugging up the fuel return line and regulating the main fuel line with a cheap puralator afpr, and keeping the charcoal canister for presure release. I know everyone want to use those little 90 dollar afpr units but im cheap, and i already have the carb and afpr, and wanna stay close to those lines of cheapness. HEHE

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You want to dump all the overpressure gas into the charcoal canister? It is only made to burnoff fumes and small amounts of gas, large amounts of raw gas in it will ruin it and then dump out onto the ground after it fills it up. you have to run a return line unless you want to just dump the excess gasoline onto the ground, Kyle

What I simply want to do is disable the fuel return line by plugging it up. Putting a regulator on the main line(a simple two port reg droping it from 10 psi to around 5 1/2), and leaving the rest as is. As I understand it the charcoal canister is for fumes, which remains as is, so no probs, right?

Thanks for the help man

no, you can't simply plug the pump off. there has to be some sort of relief and the fuel pump is not designed to work that way. Why do you want to do this anyway? all you're doing is creating more work. Put a regular type regulator in there and be done with it. Kyle

I don't think the intank TBI pump will provide sufficent volume for the carb. In contrast the pressure will (as you assumed) be too high. I took the return line for my car and made it into an extra delivery line (by extending to the bottom of the tank). I then used a Y block to run them through a single electric fuel pump and another Y block to dump them into a AN-8 braided steel line that feeds the carb. This will allow you to put the regulator at the carb bowls (the ideal place).

Is it possible to hook up the two port? I think the volume will be enough for my carb. Does anyone know the tbis GPH rating, ive seen these carbs run with look GPH and still be alright. Its setup lean at cruise and alot richer when i gun it. This carb was setup by me for a friends ford 289.

FastBroker tell me about your little diagram for making it work.

Hey fast broker if this can be done ill give you my TBI setup for practically nothing.

Thanks for the help everyone.
