wierd window motor problem
how's it goin everybody, i'm new here and have a question, i've read some of the window motor replacement topics and replies and everyone keeps saying how its hard to get the window motor out because of the rivits, but mine fell off the mounting thing and i dont see any rivits that hold it on, i'm wondering how to remount it becuase there's nothing wrong with it.

'91RSS,
Welcome aboard!
The O.E.M. installation of the window regulator motor is done with large rivets. You'll need a very large rivet setter to install new ones after the originals are removed. Rivets are the preferred method, since standard threaded fasteners tend to work loose over time in this application.
I've had good success using fine-threaded fasteners (like ¼-28) with self-locking nuts. Shakeproof washers and lock washers don't seem to be adequate for the task, given all the metal moving from door closing and road vibration. I suppose Loctite thread locker (242) would work as well, but I've never tried it on a window motor.
If you decide to rivet the motor back in place, the rivets are about 30 cents each, while the rivet setter is about $140.00 (for a cheap one).
