Pro Action 220cc heads, a few questions
Thanks in advance. I did a search but wanted more input if possible. I'm building a 406 ci, stock rod motor (shortblock bought complete) and I found a good deal on some Pro Action 220's. They are 64cc chamber size with angle plugs. Induction will be fully ported Super Ram & Base, matched to 1205's. I plan to keep rpm's below 6k. My questions are:
1. Are 220cc heads too large for this motor? Cam TBD once head selection is made. I'm ccncerned that these may not be the best choice for low rpm street application.
2. Keith Black flat top pistons, w/std 7cc (?) valve reliefs. I cc'd the Sportsman II's I was going to use and they measured 70cc chambers. With this, factoring in .025 deck height, ring land volume, etc, compression calculated to an almost perfect 10:1. Has anyone cc'd a set of the Pro Action 64cc heads to see what the chamber volume actually is?
3. Angle plugs. Will they work with SLP 1 3/4" headers? What should I be aware of vs straight plugs?
4. Do these heads match a 1205 or 1206 gasket?
Thanks again, these aren't such a good deal if they don't work well for my combo, so I wanted to ask first.

Hopefully I can be of help
1. I don't think so...I have a similar stock-type shortblock on my 406 and I firmly believe that with my mild cam, it will help kill torque a bit at low RPM's...I will know soon...
2. I have not cc'd the heads, but my head guy said they looked damn close to other known 64cc heads that he had...
3. No idea...I got straight plug heads...
4. They claim a 1206, but I am using a Stealth Ram which is a 1205. The idea is that going from the smaller port on the Stealth ram to a larger port is ok as long as you don't get any fuel puddling, but that is unlikely. Most people are more worried about a larger intake port going to a smaller head port...I believe that the combo will be ok.
