What strut tower brace can I use with Accel SuperRam?
Since I have installed the Accel SuperRam intake, I'm concerned that some or all strut toer braces (engine braces) may interfer with the intake.
Does anyone have a strut tower brace AND the Accel Superram?
TIA

I have seen the Jamex brace fit over the SR intake with no problems. I have this combo but I am still working on my engine so I haven't tried to see if it will work just yet.

The Hotchkis fits just fine over a Super Ram.

RU-QWIK has a STB with his SuperRam. Not sure what brand STB though. Here is a pic: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/att...postid=1173249

Yea right. lol I have stock mounts and a superram and i would need to raise each side about 1/2 inch to clear the SR Once I did that my hood wont close.

I have the Jamex STB over mine. with about a 1/4" of clearance it makes the hood a real pain to open. Might try to get it closer to the SR as long as they don't rub. Of course I could put some 80 grit sandpaper on the bottom of the STB and start automatically polishing some of the SR.....

To all interested... yes, I am running a Hotchkis bar with my super ram , no clearance issues with some spacers I made. As you can see in the close up shots, I could probably even remove the spacers, but it works well now, so no need to try other things.....
Here you are.

This is the spacer... I made one for each side out of aluminum. You can see that the adjustment on the mounting brackets would most likely allow me to remove the spacers.

Very Nice car RU-QUICK.... Are those 255 or 245 tires on your car?
I have an Edelbrock on mine, it clears just fine. The brackets for the tower to tower brace are slotted. I just had to move it up and down. Until it fit under the hood without touching the plenum under load.
I dont have any pics.. the top half of the motor is apart for some modifications right now.

Just noticed that some of the photos's posted show no hood insulation. I guess that's where my clearance issues lie.
Do any of you recommend removing it?

I removed the hood insulation only because it was starting to look like crap, not because of any clearance issues. I forgot to mention that I am running the factory engine mounts.

Well, I started this thread a long time ago it seems.
I have an '87 IROCZ car, so with the louvered hood, I think that I will have a hood clearance problem. The car above (great looking car!) has a flat hood,, unlike my car.
So, I guess its time to break down and buy an aftermarket hood like a 2 1/2" cowl hood.

DOC. the underside of the hood is the same on both styles.... Look closely to the stamping. A factory hood will work, IROC or RS.

RU-QWIK,
do you have any problems with the engine torquing under load and hitting the brace? I know my engine moves a good 1/3" with the stock mounts when the engine is revved. It doesn't look like you have much room under there

Man... how the he11 do you have that much room? I got spaces and its lifted all the way up and I could still go another 1/4 up. Heck the top of the TB is hitting my hood.

No, intake does not touch the bar in any spot. I have checked it with clay actually, just for the simple fact that I figure the shock from hitting would eventually hurt something, so I made sure it was 100%.

Would somebody mind photo-shopping RU-Qwik's car white (the one with the STB)? ONLY if he doesn't mind-- do you mind? I am just interested seeing what that red Hotchkis STB looks with white (the color of my IROC.) Oh, I would like the picture that has the white car just to the left of it. Thanks! -89IRO
