3.8 Turbo questions
I am not positive but I found out today I may be able to get my hands on a 3.8 turbo motor. Supposedly it has the wiring harness etc. I haven't seen the motor so I dont know what it looks like and I would tear it down and rebuild it, if I did get anyways. now the questions...what all would I have to do to make it work in my car? I know they were in the tta etc. Is it possible to put a t56 in it because I was planning on the t56 swap in the future...I started thinking now and I think it would be awesome to have a 3.8 turbo, would definetly be unusual and wouldnt take much to haul *****. So yea basically what would need to be done? If I do this it would be over the period of a year or so, I am not trying to get this done at a given time, just trying to think of things that would be unique and fast. Everybody and their moms has a 350 so thats getting kinda played out.

if you run a manual transmission with a turbo car you have to make sure to install a blow off valve. You'll also have no way of building boost at the line, and every time you shift you'll lose all your boost. Turbo cars can generally go a LOT faster with an automatic transmission.

learn somethin new everyday, what about the turbo supra 6spds etc? they manage to keep their boost up. And if I have to go to an auto than so be it, not that hard of a swap.

IMO.....Dont even attempt a 6-speed. It'll give you headaches and you'll be a lot slower than with an auto. Buick 3.8's are low revving torque engines and are usually done by 5 grand. Supra's are different animals. They rev higher and can keep the turbo spooled once its going.
