vortec versus trick flow

vortec versus trick flow

I have an earlier set of trick flow heads on my sbc and have been hearing alot of good things about the vortec heads. I am moving up to the stealth ram with about 10:1 compression, XR276 hydraulic roller cam and was wondering if you guys think I should ditch the trick flow and go with the vortec heads? Thanks.

No I'd keep the TF heads. Those are very good heads that flow better and I don't think you'd benefit from the vortecs. Besides all that, I don't think Holley makes a StealthRam that will bolt up to vortec heads.

Yeah, Trick Flow makes a nice head. I would stick with those and use the money you were going to use on the Vortec's and port the crap out of the TF's. Yeah and I dont think the stealth ram will bolt up to the Vortec's either.

i'd also say stay with the trick flow's. the vortec heads aren't bad, after paying alot in machine work....

I have no experience with either head, but by the time you buy the Vortecs, their intake, and machine the heads, because I think that cam is too large for the stock springs on the Vortecs, you could put a lot of work into the TFs for a lot cheaper.

I had a set of TF 23's. I sold them cause they didn't flow all that well. If you are gonna keep them, do a little porting on intake and exhaust ports, but concentrate on the bowl job and valve angles, this is where the TF's will benefit the most.
