How hard is it to change a door hinge
Just took ownership of the T/A last Saturday, and I was given a brand new set of hinges for the drivers side door. (It's catching a little on the front fender, and scraping on the ground F/X)
How hard is it to replace the hinge. Do I have to unwire the power windows, or is there enough lead wire? I'll be starting soon this afternoon, after I rewire the fan switch on the 'F'

i changed the pin on an 85 firebird and that was no easy task. didnt have ppower windows either. im thinking you probably should unhook the wires just to be careful. as for the hinges if you had some help it would probably be simple to get the door off.

Might be a better idea to just try loosening all the bolts that hold the door on, (Bottom hinge is going to be a bitch.) and move the door until it strikes properly. It took me a few tries and an extra pair of hands, but it works fine now and it's a lot easier than trying to replace the hinge. I'd definately try that first.

Yeah, but if he's going to go thru all that trouble, it might be "worth it" to just replace the hinge.
I'm kicking myself for not replacing the passenger side hinge when I had the door on the ground... argh! Why is it always the passenger side of the car with the most problems?? That's the side everyone rides on!

i just changed the pin and bushing in a f body. it wasn't hard to do. on the one i did half the hinge was welded to the door so it wasn't an option to change the hinge. i did have to change the roller and pin assembly too. just ground it off where it's staked and welded new one in place. the problem is usually the lower so i'll tell about it. removed kick panel, 2 or 3 bolts are accessed thru it. remove plastic iner fender, 1 bolt is accessed thru it. i used a nylon ratchet strap hung from rafters to hold up the door. i removed the inner half hinge, removed pin replaced bushings and reassembled. after you get into it it's easy to see and understand.
