Trip odometer
My trip odometer in my 92 camaro doesnt work. The odometer works fine, but the trip is stuck at 999 miles and will not move. It looks like it is cocked to the left a bit. Is it possible to fix the trip odometer without getting a whole new guage cluster?

25,
I've had a similar occurrence on other GM cars. The trip unit wouldn't always reset. I'd have to fully depress the reset button and release it quickly several times to get the gears to engage with the odometer drive.

Since changing the speedo head would mean removing the old instrument, you might as well do that anyway. Once you have it out, you can open and repair it. The mechanism is really quite simple and repair will be fairly obvious once you have it open.
The real work will be in removal and replacement.

Back from the dead, lol. Well since the topic is back up it's still broken and I figure I'll just buy a working cluster off ebay for cheap. Question is though, how do I properly set the correct miles on the new odometer? Can you just roll it back or forward with your fingers or is there some other way to do it?
